Savory Grille is celebrating their 12th Anniversary

Newsletter: April 2010

Mark your calendars, folks. We’re counting down to one the most highly anticipated days of the year here at Savory Grille – the opening of our patio on May 1. Fresh country air, sans insects and raindrops, is a guaranteed appetite enhancer.

Spring also brings a celebration of fresh, exciting – and fleeting – seasonal flavors. Morels, ramps and fiddlehead ferns will be making guest star appearances on the menu, and you won’t be disappointed with our tasty treatments of these and other vernal delicacies.

The latest offering in our Citrusy Cocktail series, the Ruby Red Cosmo, is ready for sipping. Ruby red grapefruits, fresh, plump and hand-squeezed, yield an incomparable sweetly tart juice that finds a perfect foil in vodka.

All of our staff are committed to the community and find working with future chefs to be a fulfilling venture. This month, Dorothy will be involved in the evaluation process of NOCTI [National Occupational Competency Test Institute] at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute (LCTI) in Schnecksville. She expects to be impressed with the achievements of program participants, which include special education students.

Meanwhile, Shawn recently partnered with LCTI’s Samantha Cranco to take top honors in SkillsUSA Council’s inaugural Culinary Challenge. The fundraising competition teamed leading Lehigh Valley chefs with students, preparing a meal for 100 judges and guests. We predict a bright future for the talented Ms. Cranco, a Parkland High School junior who plans to attend Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, a leader in culinary arts education.

And, finally, congratulations to Donn Zauck of Sinking Springs and Suzanne Burian of Allentown, each a winner of a $50 gift certificate in our automatic monthly drawing from the Savory Grille electronic mailing list. We look forward to seeing you!

Cheers,

Shawn, Dorothy, and the Savory Grille Staff
