Lehigh Valley natives Shawn and Dorothy Doyle each have had a lifelong involvement with food and cooking. “My family always had a big garden, so growing and preparing food was part of living,” Dorothy comments.

Shawn took a hands-on approach to cooking at an early age. “When I was about seven, my mom got sick and had to stay in bed for a few days. So, I called my grandmother and asked her how to make stuffed peppers,” Shawn explains. “That sounds unusual, but it seemed very natural to me!”

Appropriately, the relationship between Shawn and Dorothy ignited during a high school culinary class. “Shawn was showing me how to use a pressure cooker,” Dorothy recalls. “He got burned.”

Shawn refined his skills at The Cascade Lodge, The Spice of Life, Brookside Country Club, and The Hotel Bethlehem after graduating from NCC’s Hotel and Restaurant Management program in 1991. Dorothy, who graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in 1986, became grounded in classic French cuisine as chef at The Manor House.

By acquiring their own restaurant, the couple was able to feature a broader range of tastes. “We never have to compromise on quality,” Dorothy explains. “Everything from bread to ice cream is made from scratch.”

“My philosophy on cooking is always evolving,” Shawn states. “The year-round availability of great, fresh foods constantly opens your eyes to new innovations.”

The complementary talents of Shawn and Dorothy have earned the Savory Grille accolades from critics, and attracted a devoted clientele. The menu is infused with flavorful influences from cultures that span the globe. Quality ingredients are showcased in offerings that highlight creative ingenuity and dramatic presentation. The fare is sophisticated and lively. The dining experience is beyond compare.
